Production Process Explained
How your nut sculpture comes to life
Every sculpture I create is fully handcrafted. From the first idea to the final placement, I’ll guide you through the entire process. This way, you know exactly what to expect and you can already enjoy watching your artwork take shape.
1. Intake & Design — the beginning of your artwork
We start with a personal conversation where you share your vision.
Do you want a body cast or a special object?
We’ll discuss:
-
Style and size
-
Material (stainless steel or steel)
-
The location where the sculpture will be displayed
-
Optional crystals (color, quantity, type)
-
Budget and timeline
This can be done by phone or at your location.
If it’s a body sculpture, we’ll immediately schedule when and where I’ll make the cast.
2. Materials & Preparation — the foundation of quality
For every artwork, I carefully select the right materials.
The nuts are chosen based on size, weight, appearance, and material.
Want crystals? Together, we’ll select the most beautiful Preciosa crystals that match your style.
Body cast (if applicable)
For torsos, buttocks, back contours, or a pregnant belly, I make a plaster cast of your body.
This can be done at your home or at a location of your choice. I bring all the necessary materials and ensure a calm, comfortable environment. Comfort and privacy are always my top priorities. Only skin-friendly products are used. The session usually lasts about 30 minutes.
Next, I plan internally: how many nuts are needed, how many welding layers, the weight, structure, and the right finishing. Everything is carefully calculated so your sculpture turns out perfect.
3. Construction & Welding — where true craftsmanship begins
In my studio, your sculpture truly comes to life.
Nut by nut, I build the form: each nut is placed by hand, checked, adjusted, rotated, and only then permanently welded.
The construction happens in layers: first the rough base, then the recognizable contours, and finally the fine details that give the sculpture its unique appearance and character.
Depending on the design, I use TIG or MAG welding.
It’s an intensive and meticulous process, where your sculpture literally grows nut by nut, sometimes over days, sometimes over weeks.
4. Finishing & Base — bringing it all together
Once the shape is perfect, I start the finishing process:
-
Grinding and polishing
-
Refining details
-
Smoothing edges
-
Creating a skeleton if needed (for installation)
Crystals (optional)
Want sparkle? Preciosa crystals are applied one by one, subtle or glamorous, exactly how you want it.
Coating
For extra protection or a special finish, the sculpture can be painted or powder-coated.
Base choice
The base is usually chosen after the sculpture is completed, to ensure perfect proportion. Together we select the material so your sculpture achieves the look you envisioned.
